Craftmanship Among the Tribes
Over countless cycles of seasons the animals of the Plague Lands have learned many things. Among this pool of knowledge is the skills and trades of craftmanship. Many different creatures have passed through the lands of Ground Zero, each leaving their own marks. Some have brought with them skills, taught to them by their own families or experiences in the world. Some no doubt having been picked up from pets watching humans before the world fell apart. These skills vary and some have been deeply ingrained within the daily lives of each tribe. New crafting skills appear from time to time so by no means are the recorded ones the only crafts. New ones emerge by every passing cycle, as quickly as new creatures venture onto the lands.

PaintsCreating and using various paints is common in the tribes. They are used for ceremonies, symbols of strength upon ones body or even drawing stories upon stone. Paints are often created using various plants, clay, ash, charcoal and ochre for pigment. Egg yolk will sometimes be used for a binder due to ease of access, but animal fat grease is used as well to offer more vivid colorations.

Pottery MakingThe lands of Ground Zero are rich with clay making pottery a skill favored by all. It's a craft that takes time to master to make the best quality of pottery pieces. Creating pottery is a useful trade to know as both tribes rely on bowls and other containers in daily life. If one is talented enough in the art they can create intricate patterns in the pieces that are sought by all.

Jewelry & DecorUsing things like shells, bones, feathers and simple cordage the tribes create jewelry. These are often used for decoration for daily life or more extravagant pieces for ceremonies and rituals. In the warmer seasons like Spring when flowers are abundant those too will be woven into adornments for decorations. It's not uncommon to see one use the bones of their departed loved ones in jewelry. It's seen as keeping them close and their memories alive.

IncenseIncense is used in many traditional ceremonies and is a staple for many. It's believed to have healing properties, bring good fortune and appease the Celestials. For some it's also said to have a calming effect and a bug repellent. A variety of dried plants and bark are used. They are normally ground down and burned over pieces of burning charcoal. Many in the tribes enjoy the scent of incense, but others may find it irritating.

Basket WeavingThe tribes use reeds, brambles and vines to weave baskets. Sometimes they'll make mats as well. These baskets are highly useful for storing things and carrying items when out and about. If one is skilled at the craft they can make quite large and durable baskets that will last for many cycles.

GardeningMany years of foraging for what little they can find the tribes learned to grow their own resources. The art of gardening and tending to plants has passed down through countless generations. Though this is primarily seen within the Fidelis the Caedis have known to dabble in it as well throughout the years. It takes great skill to know how to make plants thrive and successfully grow.

Piercings & TattoosDoing various body modifications among the tribes is quite common. Most see it as a form of beauty or strength to tolerate the pain that comes with most processes. Piercings are often made of whittled and painted boneor shells. The most common piercings are in the ears, but the lips, nose and bridge of muzzles are not unheard of. Tattoos can be done anywhere, often done with sharp, needle-like bones and paint made from charcoal and ash. Scarification is also common, where the they will cut deliberate patterns and markings to intentionally heal as decorated scars.

Food & DrinkDue to the variety of life within both of the tribes, differing diets and habits have created a vast knowledge of food and drink preparation. Making tea and other sweet drinks is common among both tribes using fresh herbs and plants. Some creatures will also cook meats due to diet preferences or even smoke and dry them out to make them last longer. Having the skills to create such foods and drinks is a handy skill, as almost every animal will enjoy them in some capacity.

Alcohol & SubstancesDue to the lifestyle of the tribe the creation and use of alcohol is common. Alcohol will often be made of fermented fruits, plants and honey. Juniper berries and blackberries are frequently used in this aspect. Another thing the Caedis take part in is the use of hallucinogens. They've managed to cultivate cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms to use in a variety of ways. They'll often smoke of ingest it for recreational or ritual use.

Wood CarvingWood can be carved into a variety of things from figurines to instruments or tools. The tribe of the Fidelis has mastered this craft well, often creating beautiful pieces that takes many weeks to create. The more skilled an animal is, the more valued their pieces are. Wood carving is a tedious craft that takes patience to master. It often takes one many attempts nad practice to truly master this trade to it's full potential.
